Privacy policy
Effective November 6, 2026. Memorybook is operated by Jacob Barnett, in Ohio, United States (“we”, “us”).
Memorybook is a private photo and video album for families. Families trust us with pictures of the people they love, often children, so we collect as little as we can, never sell it, and never show ads.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and the name you choose. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email address they share. With Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only see a private relay address.
- What your family adds: photos, videos, captions, album names, and optional birthdays for album subjects (for example a child or a pet), plus who added what and when.
- Family settings: members, roles, album permissions and invitations.
- Activity: when you last opened the app, shown to your family in Recents.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, a push token for your device and your notification choices, so we can tell you when your family adds photos.
- Purchases: if your family subscribes, Apple or Google processes the payment. We receive the subscription status, never your card details.
Location: before a photo or video leaves your phone, Memorybook removes its embedded metadata, including GPS location. We keep only the date it was taken.
We don’t use advertising or analytics trackers, and we don’t buy data about you.
How we use it
- To show your family’s albums to the people your family admins allow, and nobody else.
- To send sign-in codes and important account emails.
- To send the notifications you’ve turned on, such as new photos in an album you can see.
- To provide Premium features your family pays for.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
AI Memories (optional, off by default)
If a family admin turns on AI Memories, small previews (about 480 pixels) of the family’s photos and video thumbnails are sent to Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI models) to get short descriptive labels such as “hat”, “beach” or “birthday”. We use the labels to build collections within each album. Faces and people are never identified, and labels never describe people. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, the previews aren’t used to train its models and are deleted after a limited retention period (currently up to 30 days). Turning AI Memories off deletes all labels and collections it made.
Who we share it with
Only your family members, as permitted by your family’s settings, and the providers that run Memorybook for us under contract:
- Supabase: database and sign-in.
- Cloudflare: private storage for photos and videos, and this website.
- RevenueCat, Apple and Google: subscriptions.
- Resend: sending emails.
- Expo, Apple and Google: delivering push notifications. A notification contains only a short message, such as who added photos to which album, never the photos themselves.
- Anthropic: only for families that turn on AI Memories.
We don’t sell or rent personal information. We disclose information if the law requires it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Photos and videos are kept in private storage and can only be opened through short-lived links issued to family members who have access. Memorybook is not end-to-end encrypted.
How long we keep it
- Your content stays until you or your family delete it.
- Photos and videos that are deleted are permanently removed after 30 days.
- When you delete your account, we delete it immediately, and remove its photos and videos from storage within a day. Encrypted backups are overwritten within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your name in the app and delete your account at any time (how). To get a copy of your information, correct it, or ask a question about it, email support@memorybook-app.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as under the GDPR or the CCPA, and you can exercise them the same way.
Children
Memorybook is meant for families to share photos, which often include children, but accounts are for people aged 13 and older. We don’t knowingly create accounts for children under 13; if you believe one exists, email us and we’ll delete it. Children’s photos are visible only to the family members an admin allows.
Changes
If we make important changes, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
